Case Result

Not Guilty Jury Verdict on All Counts. Our client is a free man and back home with his family in Puerto Rico and able to re-build his legitimate international moving company. Despite the plea agreement proposed by the Government as well as the risk losing at trial would result in a life sentence, attorney Mr. Bower fought for the innocence of his client at trial and proved that 3 different cooperating government witnesses were lying. The jury agreed and found our client not guilty.

“Thank you Tim. Now I will tell you what a friend once told me… What would I ever do without you? And he told me, I don’t know but me without you I would be just fine. I keep saying and I repeat that you are the best. Thank you for being my attorney. Thanks.

USA v. RPM U.S. Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division, Judge Jung for the Jury Trial and Judge Scriven for the Pre-trial Matters
Charges: Conspiracy to Distribute Nearly 300 Kilograms of Cocaine
Case Result: Acquittal on All Counts. Facing 5 years if he were to plead guilty and nearly 15 years if he were to be found guilty at trial, our client entrusted Mr. Bower to defend him in a federal jury trial. At the height of the Covid-19 pandemic when all international flights were grounded, our client a Dominican fisherman, was hired by a Colombian citizen to take him to and from the Dominican Republic and Colombia by speed boat. The U.S. Coast Guard testified that they spotted several target boats in the ocean that day and at trial presented video footage of a boat whose crew members tossed cocaine bales overboard. Mr. Bower brought out on cross-examination that the Coast Guard had in fact lost sight of that boat and that the DEA had completely lost track of the $9,000,000 worth of cocaine. Our client always maintained his innocence and thankfully was brave enough to go to trial to prove it! The Judge acquitted him and surely the jury would have agreed that he was not guilty! However, the government’s chain of custody was so sloppy that the Court granted Mr. Bower’s motion for judgment of acquittal after the Government rested its case in front of the jury. Either way … same result: client is not guilty and home and free!

At trial, the armed gunmen tried to testify that our client knew all along that it was a drug trip, not a lobster trip, but no one believed him after Mr. Bower’s cross-examination revealed that he was a thug and a liar. After a two-week trial, the jury deliberated for two hours and agreed with Attorney Mr. Bower that our client was not guilty.
